Ask for Direction is the debut release from Melbourne/Naarm-based drummer, Andrew Doo. Recorded in early 2021, the album is an artefact of the exploration undertaken during his time at the Victorian College of the Arts.
The compositions on Ask For Direction are drawn from Andrew’s unique artistic practice wherein complex rhythmic structures serve as a platform to extend and explore improvisation. The music places itself at the intersection of composed and improvised music, brought to fruition by the talents of Andrew, Bassist Isaac Gunno and pianist James Ball.
